The Chinese dragon is called a long or lung. It is a rain god, a "majestic beast that dwells in rivers, lakes, and oceans and roams the skies."

Does the gold and red color scheme of this Chinese dragon look familiar? Perhaps you've seen statues or woven fabric featuring a Chinese or Japanese dragon. Additionally, the character Mushu from Disney's Mulan is a miniature version of the Chinese dragon. Take a look at the title logo - you'll find a Chinese dragon beneath her name!
In Asian mythology, dragons were typically not the enemies of humans. Instead, they were benevolent creatures of the heavens. They were known to help people. Sometimes, they were equated with deities.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing an Easy Chinese Dragon
How to Draw a Great Looking Easy Chinese Dragon for Kids, Beginners, and Adults - Step 1
1. Begin the easy Chinese dragon outline by drawing the face of the dragon. Draw a teardrop shape for the brow, with a semicircle eye beneath it. Use curved lines to draw the snout and the top of the head. Then, extend two curved lines that meet at a point to form the dragon's horn.

2. Use curved lines to sketch the open mouth and the curved triangular teeth within. Shade a small oval for the nostril. Extend two curved lines from the snout and allow them to meet at a sharp point, forming the whiskers.

3. Draw more triangular teeth inside the mouth. From the lower jaw, extend a long curved line to trace the neck and chest. Draw another curved line intersecting this one; it will become the leg. Double it back at the end to indicate the toe.
Then, draw pairs of curved lines that meet at points to form spikes on the back of the head.

4. Complete the leg, using curved lines to outline the back of the leg and the pointed toes. Trace the remaining foreleg in the same manner.

5. Extend a long curved line to sketch the dragon's belly. At the end of the line, draw the rear legs, again using curved lines that overlap and end as pointed toes.

6. Complete the remaining rear leg, using curved lines to trace the back of the leg and the pointed toes. Then, extend a long curved line from the rear leg to form the bottom of the tail.

7. Draw a long curved line from the head to the tip of the tail, parallel to the belly. This encloses the figure of the dragon. At the tip of the tail, use curved lines that meet at points to enclose a tuft.

8. Draw a zigzag line at the side of the face. Then, draw curved triangular spikes all down the dragon's back.

9. Complete your easy Chinese dragon outline by drawing another curved one parallel to the belly. Band the belly with short curved lines.
